Harbor Bay residents enjoy local school options for children of all ages

Kindergarten through eighth grade attend Tinker K-8 School on base.  High school-aged students grades nine to twelve attend Robinson High School.

Hillsborough County School District is the eighth largest in the United States. Each school has a designated attendance area, and your address determines which school your child will attend. Visit Hillsborough County Schools’ website for a complete listing including links to all district schools.

MacDill’s School Liaison Officer is available to assist families with questions concerning schools and education options in the Tampa Bay area. Our School Liaison shares an office with the MacDill Airman and Family Readiness Center staff at 2306 Florida Keys Avenue and can be reached by phone at 813.828.0146.

In addition to area schools, MacDill Family Member Programs offer comprehensive school-age and youth programs that are safe, fun and creative.

Scholarship Opportunity - Michaels Organization Education Foundation

We are pleased to announce that The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents living in Michaels’ affordable and military housing communities who are planning to pursue higher education.

Scholarship Details:

Eligibility: Open to residents with a high school diploma or equivalent who plan to attend a university, college, or trade/professional school.

Application Deadline: April 15, 2025

Important Changes: For the first time since the program’s inception in 1991, the application process will be entirely online, making it easier for more residents to apply.

The Foundation has awarded more than $16 million in scholarships since 1991, and last year alone, 261 residents received over $2 million in scholarships. Scholarships are awarded annually, and students can reapply each year of their education for continuing grants.

Key Dates:

Application Release Date: February 3, 2025

Submission Deadline: April 15, 2025

June 12: Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application.

June 24: Acceptance forms must be returned to confirm the scholarship offer. Grants not accepted by this date will be awarded to other applicants.

July 31: Scholarship checks will be mailed directly to the recipient’s post-secondary institution to help cover costs for the 2025/2026 school year.

For 2024 Recipients:

If you were a recipient in 2024, you may complete an abbreviated application. Eligible 2024 recipients will receive a personalized email on February 3, 2025, with instructions on how to access the abbreviated version.

Eligibility for Abbreviated Application:

Those who moved, graduated with a 4-year degree, or did not receive funding or verification for their school are not eligible for the abbreviated application.

Recipients who graduated with an Associate’s degree may still reapply.

The Michaels Organization’s Founder and Chairman, Michael J. Levitt, and his wife, Pat Levitt, generously match all donations to the Foundation 2:1, making this scholarship program possible.
