Frequently Asked

Here at MacDill, we strive to answer all your questions about life on base, the application process, and everything in between.

  • Here at Harbor Bay, there’s no shortage of amenities. To name a few, Harbor Bay has a resort-style pool for residents and their guests, basketball courts, and a fitness room with an attached children’s play area in the Welcome Center. The Harbor Room is also available for residents to reserve for special events and parties. There are also tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and dog parks throughout Harbor Bay.

  • We know how tough being the “new kid on the block” can be, so we make it our mission to host numerous resident activities throughout the year, including events each month for the whole family! Some of our popular activities throughout the year include Movies on the Lawn, Octoberfest, Pre-Game Football Wings, Earth Day events with flower and mulch giveaways, and popcorn for the kids after school the first Friday of each month.

  • While each unit at MacDill Air Force Base features support groups for families, Harbor Bay also hosts “Helping Hand” events for our spouses and families of deployed military members. We also provide assistance during the holidays if you need help putting together toys, bikes, or the like.

  • Homes at Harbor Bay are assigned prior to current occupants’ vacancy, so we are unable to show you the interior of your home in person prior to move-in. Your acceptance is based on the address, floor plan, and an exterior review of your home within the 24-hour offer window. Because Harbor Bay features thirty six different floor plans, we do not maintain models of each home type.

To view our neighborhoods and see individual floor plans, visit our Floor Plans page.

  • All homes at Harbor Bay come equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stove, and dishwasher. Certain floor plans also have built-in microwaves.

  • Residents are responsible for furnishing their own homes.

  • Interior changes, such as painting, may be authorized with an approved Alteration Request which can be picked up at the Welcome Center or from your Housing Coordinator.

  • MacDill Air Force Base does not allow fenced yards within the housing area.

  • Box or raised gardens within specific locations may be available for certain homes. If your yard does not contain a garden but you’d like one, your housing coordinator can assist with an alteration request. During certain times of the year we offer a best yard competition to give residents a chance to showcase their yardwork with the community.

  • As a resident, you are responsible only for the upkeep of your flower beds and other non-grassy areas. Harbor Bay’s landscapers mow, edge, and trim all bushes, trees, and common areas.

  • Water, gas (if applicable), and a utility allowance are included in your monthly rent. If you conserve energy and fall below your electric allowance for the billing period, you may be able to take advantage of rebates from Conservice, Harbor Bay’s Utility Provider. To monitor your monthly statements, please visit the Conservice Resident Portal.

  • Our friendly maintenance staff is responsible for general upkeep and fixing any issues that may arise. Should you have a need, simply submit a Maintenance Request form on our website, and they will respond to your request. For emergency maintenance, please call 813-840-2000 for immediate assistance.
